Cannock Chase

Our year 6 classes visited The Museum of Cannock Chase during Spring term.  During the day, students participated in a variety of activities to begin to appreciate how the lives of people were affected during World War II.  One activity saw pupils dramatise scenarios: children leaving parents for evacuation; arriving at an unfamiliar destination; being chosen or not by a host family and a good or bad evacuation experience.  Pupils also had the opportunity to handle artefacts from the era and learn more about food shortages and rationing. Visiting the 1940s house, showed children how many of today’s ‘luxuries’ weren’t available.   It was a really enjoyable day with the exemplary behaviour of students being noticed and commented on by museum staff.
